Just three days after their dramatic late loss to Manchester United in the Premier League West Ham have the chance to get revenge on the Red Devils.
The Hammers enter the Carabao Cup at the third-round stage due to their European commitments and have been handed a tough draw with a trip to Old Trafford first up.
West Ham have never won the League Cup, with their best result coming in 1981 when they lost a replay 2-1 against Liverpool thanks to goals from Sir Kenny Dalglish and Alan Hansen.
Manchester United on the other hand have won the trophy on five occasions, most recently in 2017 with a 3-2 win over Southampton.
League Cup history is on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side as is Manchester United's recent record against West Ham with four victories in a row. However, the closeness of Sunday's match suggests the Hammers can travel to Old Trafford with confidence they can cause an upset.
Both teams are expected to make a number of changes to their starting XI's from the weekend clash with the managers taking the opportunity to hand out debuts and minutes to those on the fringes.
One such change is expected to be Alphonse Areola making his Hammers debut in goal, with Lukasz Fabianski making way.
Issa Diop and Craig Dawson could replace the weekend's centre-back pairing of Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma.
In the full-back spots, Ryan Fredericks had a fine game against Dinamo Zagreb at right-back and is likely to return to the team at Old Trafford. Vladimir Coufal was handed a rest in the Europa League and could keep his spot in the back four, alternatively, Arthur Masuaku or Ben Johnson could get their first start of the season in his place.
In midfield, Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice are due a rest with Alex Kral and Mark Noble in line for starts. Manuel Lanzini could join the duo or start as the No.10 as he did in Zagreb.
Jarrod Bowen and Andriy Yarmolenko were both substitutes in the Europa League and would provide pace and width for Moyes behind Antonio.
The striker was suspended for the Premier League match against Manchester United and the No.9 could spearhead the Hammers attack.

Days after one of the most-dramatic fixtures of the Premier League season unfolded at the London Stadium, Manchester United and West Ham United face off once again.
This time it is Carabao Cup action for the two clubs, with the Red Devils playing host to former manager David Moyes and his Hammers outfit in the third round.
The hosts come into the tie bristling with confidence after Jesse Lingard scored an 89th-minute winner and David de Gea denied Mark Noble's last-gasp penalty to earn three points.
Inevitably, the evergreen Cristiano Ronaldo was on the scoresheet to score his fourth goal in three games, equalising in the first half after Said Benrahma's opener.
But the 36-year-old superstar may be named on the bench for the first time since returning to Old Trafford on Wednesday night, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer set to ring the changes against West Ham.
Anthony Martial could be handed his second start of the season, with the Frenchman keen to remind his manager of his quality having fallen down the pecking order following Ronaldo's arrival.
Jadon Sancho may return to the starting XI on the left flank after he was benched on Sunday, with match-winner Lingard rewarded with a start at No.10 and veteran Juan Mata as the right-winger.
Scott McTominay has been a reliable stalwart over much of the last year and may keep his spot in the line-up alongside Donny van de Beek in the deeper midfield spots.
A heavily-rotated defence could see Victor Lindelof partner Eric Bailly at centre-back, meaning the first-choice duo of Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane can be rested.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka could keep his berth at right-back, especially as he is suspended for the Champions League clash with Villarreal next Wednesday.

On the other side of defence, Diogo Dalot could be handed a rare start in place of Luke Shaw, while Alex Telles could return from a foot injury in time to make the matchday squad.
In goal, former Red Devils academy star Tom Heaton may make his first start for the club, with De Gea given the chance to put his feet up after his penalty save at the weekend.
De Gea's regular competition, Dean Henderson, is still working his way back to fitness with the Under-23s after a bout of long Covid.
Elsewhere, Solskjaer has confirmed Phil Jones will be named in the squad and the centre-back could make his first United appearance since January 2020.
Striker Edinson Cavani may also recover from a muscle injury in time to make the bench, while forwards Marcus Rashford and Amad remain sidelined until next month.

Reid receives massive pay out to tear up contract
Winston Reid got a massive payoff to rip up his West Ham contract by mutual consent which expired on 30th June 2023.
Claret and Hugh understand the compensation closely resembles the huge payoff that Jack Wilsher received over a year ago when the Hammers agreed to pay 85% of his remaining wages to rip up his £100,000 per week contract.
With 92 weeks of Reid’s contract remaining the former hammers was entitled to just under £6.5m of wages if the reported £70,000 per week is to be believed.
This would give him in theory just under £5.5m most likely paid in instalments with the club saving just under £1m from the new agreement.
Reid was no longer in the manager’s plans due to a loss of pace after his serious injury and he was unlikely to ever play for the first team again.
The club believes the small wage saving was the best outcome for both parties as they were no offers for him over the summer.
Despite his eleven years of service, Reid will not be receiving a testimonial, the cost of hosting any testimonial at the London Stadium is around £300,000 so you have to sell a lot of tickets just to break even. The last player testimonial was at the Boleyn ground in 2016 for Mark Noble, before that it was Julian Dicks in 2000 and Steve Potts in 1997.
